Each of our learners are different, as are their ways of learning. As teachers of primary and secondary students, we need to demonstrate inclusive attitudes to ensure all our learners feel supported, included, and can thrive in the classroom. It is important to highlight the wonderful differences that make each of our learners unique.
In this interactive workshop session, we’ll be discussing the principles behind inclusive classroom practices, and how to encourage our students to use their individuality to develop their strengths, and progress on their English language learning journey. We’ll also look at why personalising lessons is crucial to meeting our learners needs.
How can I keep my primary learners engaged and on task? What activities can I do to make the lesson dynamic, whilst still achieving the learning objectives?
In this session, we’ll be looking at gamification using examples from Pearson’s seven-level Primary course, Rise & Shine. We’ll break down what gamification is, and how it can be motivating and enjoyable for our primary learners. We’ll focus on different ways to teach using gamification, in small groups and as a class, as well as classroom management strategies to help you achieve a collaborative and enjoyable learning environment.
In this session we will look at ten important concepts and see how we can transform them into activities which can be easily implemented in our primary classes. We’ll think about notions such as motivation, expectation, surprise, expansion, and then break them down into useful, interesting teaching ideas, using some examples from Rise and Shine and My Disney Stars and Heroes.
